Day 1: Welcome to Portugal
Reception, assistance, and transportation from the airport to the hotel. Our guide will be waiting for you at the airport to welcome you and accompany you to the hotel. Accommodation in Lisbon.
Day 2: Lisbon
After breakfast, we will visit the main tourist attractions in Lisbon, such as the Marquês de Pombal Square, Eduardo VII Park, Rossio, and Terreiro do Paço. Then, we will visit two monuments that mark the golden period of the Portuguese Discoveries: the Belém Tower, which symbolically stands at the point where the ships and caravels departed to discover the Oceans, and the Jerónimos Monastery, considered the most important monument in Portugal. Before finishing the tour in Lisbon, we will taste the famous Pastéis de Belém at the pastry shop that has been producing them since 1837. Accommodation in Lisbon.
Day 3: Óbidos, Alcobaça, and Batalha
On our way north, we will stop in the beautiful town of Óbidos, surrounded by medieval walls and crowned by the Moorish castle rebuilt by D. Dinis. Then, we will visit the Alcobaça Monastery, the first fully Gothic work built in Portuguese soil. We will also visit the Batalha Monastery, built to celebrate the victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota against the Castilians in 1385. We will continue our journey to the city of Porto. Day 4: Porto
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a guided tour of the most typical and characteristic streets of the city of Porto. On our visit to the tourist attractions of Porto, we can start in front of the City Hall and get to know the most emblematic monuments of the city, such as the Sé Cathedral and the Church of S. Francisco, and we will finish by tasting a good Port wine in the famous cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. In the afternoon, we will take a 50-minute cruise under the bridges of the Douro River, which will give us a different perspective of the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Day 5: Braga and Guimarães
The Minho region is considered the greenest region in Portugal. We will start in the city of Braga, where we will be amazed by the grandeur of the Sé and the stairs of the Bom Jesus Sanctuary. Then, we will visit Guimarães, known as the "Cradle City", because it was here that the administrative center of the County of Portugal was established by the 1st King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. We will visit the Paços dos Duques, the Guimarães Castle, and its Historic Center, considered a World Heritage Site. Accommodation in Porto.
Day 6: Douro Vinhateiro
After breakfast, we will head to Pinhão, where we will visit the old train station, which was converted into a shop and a museum with unique pieces, witnesses to a viticultural past with a lot of tradition. The current train station is known for its 24 tile panels that depict landscapes of the Douro and aspects of the harvest. We will visit wine-producing farms with explanations about the current production process and how it was done in the past. We will learn the secrets and taste the wines produced there. Day 7: Douro Superior
Today, we will discover other tourist attractions in Portugal, such as the town of S. João da Pesqueira, considered the "heart of the Douro Vinhateiro" and which has, probably, the most impressive viewpoint in the entire Douro region, called São Salvador do Mundo. In Foz Côa, we can visit the Quinta de Ervamoira, in the Archaeological Park of the Côa Valley, a territory classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will have the possibility to observe the rock engravings of the Côa Valley, a rare concentration of rock art composed of engravings on stone dated to the Upper Paleolithic (22000 - 10000 BC). We will return to Régua and accommodation in Douro.
Day 8: Coimbra and Tomar
We will visit Coimbra, known as the city of students, where many tourist attractions in Portugal are located. We will visit the University, the Library, and the Church of Santa Clara. Then, we will head to another tourist attraction in Portugal, the city of Tomar. The famous Convent of Christ was founded in 1162 by the Grand Master of the Templars and still preserves memories of these monk-knights and their heirs, the Order of Christ, who made this building their headquarters. Day 9: Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais
Sintra is a beautiful romantic town, whose unique characteristics led UNESCO to classify it as a World Cultural Landscape Heritage. We will visit the National Palace of Sintra, a unique example of medieval royal palaces in Portugal and the ex-libris of the town. We will continue through the beautiful landscape of the Park and head to the Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent. The trip to Lisbon will be made along the coast, passing through the towns of Cascais and Estoril. Accommodation in Lisbon.
Day 10: Alentejo
Departure in the morning for Évora, a charming city in Portugal surrounded by walls, with a unique atmosphere in the historic streets of the city, with restaurants, craft shops, and historic monuments such as the Temple of Diana, the Church of S. Francisco, and the Capela dos Ossos. In the afternoon, we will head to Elvas to see the walls that were classified as a World Heritage Site in 2012. Accommodation in Lisbon.
Day 11: End of the trip to Portugal.
Return home After breakfast, private transportation to Lisbon airport.
